Flea Control - Why Should You Use It?
Posted Under: General
Flea treatment is one of the most important aspects of your pet’s health care. If you are thinking about exactly why you should use flea control, then this article is for you. Here are just some of the reasons you should be using flea control on your dog:
Firstly, you have to think about the comfort of your pet. If you have ever been bitten by a mosquito, you know how uncomfortable an insect bite can be. Flea bites are no different. You can see this when you watch a flea ridden dog. They are always scratching Think about how itchy they must be. A good pet owner wouldn’t want their dog to suffer that kind of discomfort.
And just think about the poor dogs with flea allergies. pets with flea allergies get intensely itchy after only a few flea bites, and can cause themselves serious harm from the self trauma that scratching creates.
You need to think about keeping fleas from attacking you as well. Fleas will attack humans as well, so using flea treatment will help to keep you from getting bitten as well. If the thought of fleas biting you disgusts you (I know it disgusts me) then this might be reason enough!
Another good reason to use flea treatment is worm control for your pet. As pets groom they can pick up tapeworm eggs from dead fleas. No fleas = less worms. Some pet worms can also transfer to humans, so flea treatment will help keep you healthy as well as your pets.
Aside from worms, there are some more serious consequences of flea infestations as well. In young dogs and cats, a flea burden can be overwhelming and actually cause severe anaemia and death. Using flea control will prevent this from happening.
Finally, there is also a social aspect to flea control. There is a real stigma associated with having a flea ridden dog. It makes people think that you don’t care or can’t afford to look after your pet properly.
So do the right thing, use flea control. Your pet will thank you for it.
