As their name suggests, Welsh Ponies were bred in Wales of the United Kingdom. There are several different variations of the Welsh Pony, and they are popular for a number of reasons, for everything from horse riding and shows to pit pony and work horse.

For a long time the Welsh pony was used as a work horse. The British government used these ponies at wartime to carry heavy guns and equipment to areas inaccessible by vehicles, and even these ponies were used for a mounted infantry.

Other tasks the Welsh pony was used for included mail delivery, work in the coal mines, and used to help on the farm. Traditionally, everyday tasks were considered to be better handled by the Welsh pony.

As time went on, the Welsh pony was noticed for its extraordinary ability during competitions and other shows, and its gentleness when handled and mounted by small children.

The Welsh ponies have no spots, and are always a solid color Black, bay, and chestnut are the most commonly seen varieties.

These ponies a well loved because they are gentle, sweet, loyal, and have a strong spirit, making their endurance great. A Welsh pony can outlast many other larger and seemingly stronger horses in stamina. The Welsh pony is quick to train and quick to learn. This would perhaps be a good choice for someone who is learning how to train horses.

The one of a kind, beautiful, bold, and free Welsh ponies are great and gentle to carry children, and are fast and can jump as high as any other breed. This Welsh pony even handles unfavorable weather, and harsh conditions do not affect this type of pony.

This sounds like the perfect pony, what do you think?
